Opencart

Are Open Cart, OpenCart and ocStore the same thing?

· 2 min read

In short, yes. But there is one caveat.
ocStore is a version of OpenCart adapted for the CIS market.

It includes a host of minor but important improvements which, in the standard version of OpenCart, would have had to be implemented individually.

One of the most useful add-ons for ocStore is the SeoPro module, which provides around 80 per cent of the basic functionality required for a website’s SEO. Of course, if you need full multilingual support with clean URLs, you won’t be able to do without additional modules. However, for many online shops, SeoPro’s capabilities are more than sufficient.

Another advantage of ocStore is its fully ready-to-use and well-designed localisation in Ukrainian and Russian. Furthermore, the system includes a host of useful features: support for meta tags, configuration of the robots.txt file, additional payment modules (although most of these are now obsolete), a block of recommended products, and many other useful features.

It is also worth noting the compatibility of modules. Most OpenCart extensions work with ocStore without any issues, but minor tweaks or adaptations may sometimes be required.

Which should you choose — OpenCart or ocStore?

The answer is obvious — ocStore. This system is far more feature-rich, better designed and saves a lot of time when developing an online shop.

It is also worth noting the compatibility of modules. Most OpenCart extensions work with ocStore without any issues, but minor tweaks or adaptations may sometimes be required.
