This is probably one of the most common questions I\u2019m asked before starting to develop a website. And every time, I feel like replying: it depends on exactly what you\u2019re planning to do<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People very often compare OpenCart and WordPress as if they were identical systems. In fact, this is not the case. Yes, you can use both to create an online shop, a blog or a corporate website. However, each was designed for its own specific purposes, which is why they are more suitable for use in different situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When should you choose WordPress?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you need a blog, a company website, a news portal or a services website, I would recommend WordPress without hesitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WordPress is primarily designed for publishing content. That\u2019s why it\u2019s really easy to add articles, edit pages or change the site\u2019s structure. The admin panel is simple and straightforward, even for someone using the site for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another advantage is the huge range of ready-made themes and plugins. Whether you need a landing page, a blog or a personal website, there\u2019s almost certainly a suitable solution already available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, you can also set up an online shop using WooCommerce on WordPress. If it\u2019s a small product catalogue or if sales aren\u2019t the main purpose of the website, then this option is certainly a viable one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When is it best to choose OpenCart?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If, on the other hand, you know straight away that you\u2019re going to set up an online shop, then I\u2019d recommend OpenCart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the CIS market, OpenCart is one of the most popular options. There is a vast range of ready-made modules for payment, delivery, and integration with CRM systems, accounting software, marketplaces and other services. If any customisation is required, in most cases it either already exists or can be implemented without any problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, I\u2019ve had to customise OpenCart for a wide variety of tasks. And almost without fail, I\u2019ve been able to find the right solution. That\u2019s exactly why I like this system \u2014 it doesn\u2019t limit the project\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the conclusion?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To put it very briefly, it\u2019s simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you need a blog<\/strong>, a corporate website<\/strong> or a services website<\/strong> \u2014 choose WordPress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you need an online shop<\/strong>, choose OpenCart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, there are exceptions. Sometimes large online shops are built on WordPress, whilst corporate websites are sometimes created on OpenCart. However, if you choose a system based on its primary purpose, you\u2019ll encounter fewer problems with support, modifications and the project\u2019s development down the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
